About Emilee
My passions for animals and photography both started at a very young age. I was born with a love for animals: Fuzzy faces, wiggly tails, soft coats, barks, whinny’s and chirps, all fed my childhood soul. From age six, when I started visiting my grandparents’ horse farm, I was hooked on horses, dogs, cats and birds. I couldn’t get enough! I had more animal friends than people friends. It brings me great joy to still be passionately involved with animals. I’ve been a horse farm manager most of my adult life, and ride, compete, and/or take care of horses, dogs, birds and cats on a daily basis.
My photography roots also began from a very young age. Looking back, I realize my passion for pictures and photography started at one specific moment in my life. As a young child who was having trouble learning to read, I remember a teacher once saying, “Look at the picture and see if you can figure out the word.” That was a moment that changed my life. That’s the moment I became fascinated by pictures. I suddenly understood they were meant to communicate, express or represent something.
As I grew to adulthood, my love for animals and fascination with pictures merged, and my passion for photography was born. I love creating pictures that can stand alone as pieces of art, telling a story or communicating a feeling. The power of photography to capture a memory or emotion, is magical. I especially love capturing these moments with animals, and turning them into artful images.
Every animal lover, myself included, knows the incredible experience of a dog, horse, cat or bird changing their life. My animal companions have changed my life for the better. I imagine your animal companion has changed your life too… Maybe your pet companion even saved your life… Maybe your pet companion is your best friend or your child… your hero… your confidante… your source of unconditional comfort. Perhaps your animal companion is the one you turn to, when you need to just “get away” from the harshness of life, or need a good laugh. I also know the pain of losing such a precious companion, as they cannot be in this world with us forever. That’s why I consider it my privilege to capture and preserve moments and memories which can serve to honor those we cherish, and won’t be lost in a cell phone, computer or flash drive.
I pride myself on being able to work with a variety of animals: dogs, cats, horses, birds, cows, pigs, etc. Your pet companion is important! I don’t mind getting mud (and other things) on my shoes. I also am familiar with how animals may not always be interested in cooperating during a photo shoot. That’s alright!!! I can work with that!!! I love the challenge, and pride myself on being patient and creative in order to capture a magical moment, as compared to trying to force a contained, controlled, stiff portrait.
As part of any photography session, I would love to hear your stories about what makes your pet companion so important to you. I want my photography sessions to feel comfortable and fun for both animals and people. Let’s make memories together! Thank you for your interest in Emilee Hall Grover Photography. I look forward to meeting you and your four-legged and feathered friends!
Chipper: He’s my confidante, keeper of my heart, co-worker, friend, and constant source of comfort and unconditional love.
Cormorant: After dealing with a problematic heart condition and almost losing my horse Cormorant multiple times in 2020 due to a fractured bone in her foot, I have been constantly reminded of the precariousness of life and the importance of the time we have with our beloved animals. It fuels my desire to capture lasting images and preserve memories.
Lily: The most wiggly dog I know! If I can take her picture, I’m confident I can capture your pet companion’s picture too!
Budgy Bird: My bird sings to me every day, even when it’s raining outside. I adore feathered friends and recognize they can be just as important to us as our four-legged ones.
